Claire Symons, Nursery Owner and Manager, writes:

I opened Claire's Country  Childcare in 1995 having spent the previous 16 years working as a qualified Nursery Nurse at North Devon District Hospital. We are open 50 weeks of the year Monday ~ Friday from 07.30 ~ 18.00. My job is to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Nurseries, as well as the welfare of all the children.

I am involved with the Curriculum Planning for the three to four year olds and making sure all the Early Learning Goals are met on a daily basis. I am also responsible for Behaviour Management and any issues arising. My Deputy, Julie, fills the role when I am away, and is also responsible for Health and Safety. Katie is the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

The Staff at Claire's are a committed team, with regular Nursery meetings planning a timetable which meets the Early Learning Goals. We have a 12 month plan of activities, broken down into weekly and daily plans, which parents are free to read, and we keep a booklet of work to record each child's progress.

Your child will need a packed lunch in a labelled container and a spare set of clothes, nappies and wet wipes etc for babies. At morning break time, we offer them milk or water and a snack of either fresh fruit, toast, bread sticks or cheese and crackers, alternated throughout the week.

Claire's Country Childcare Objectives and Principles can be read on this website and our Policies are available in Butterflies' Reception.
